Seen this.

Hello All,

Some of you were affect this evening by a network outage, this was due to our ddos scrubbers not routing traffic to us. Whilst we would like to have had it resolved much faster, unfortunately it was largely out of our control.

As of approx 8.10pm GMT, traffic is now being routed to us again, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies to any and all affected. We will be doing everything we can to help ensure this doesn't happen again, and will be discussing a plan of action over the coming days.

Once again, please accept our apologies.

The GamingDeluxe Team

This would have affected the dedi box.  So all BF3 servers, TS, Arma, Dayz and BC2.

I have long thought 90% of forum posts end up in squabbles on big websites.   This particular one was posted for giggles on a shooting forum.

Read it and stick with it... proof opinions are like assholes...

Battlefield 3 / GD control down time
« on: September 06, 2014, 06:22:30 PM »
Tomorrow morning, 7th September 2014, we may have some downtime on the control panel.

We haven't set this in stone yet in case any unforeseen circumstances arise, but if they do not, then we will be going ahead and getting a new master server online, this should help with overall speed and reliability of the panel.

Please be aware of this, your services will remain in the state they were before the downtime, and the downtime should only last a few minutes at most

Best regards,

Other Games / Tomb Raider (the reboot)
« on: May 25, 2014, 06:11:59 PM »
Well recently I started plugging in my lappy into the TV and using a 360 pad to game on there.  Very comfy especially on my bad days!

Anyway I thought after finishing Ryse on the xbox1 I'd try Tomb Raider on lappy.  Have to say although the old girl (Lara) seemed slightly indestructable, and had the worst day ever... I did enjoy it!

I did get to some stages and just go ... ohh FFS you are kidding me!! Alas though I continued the game as it held my attention and I genuinely liked climbing, sliding, jumping about, parachuting through trees, trying to out run the wreckage of a plane crash and climbing up so high that I almost had nose bleeds whilst playing.

All good fun!  Now for the next installment!

Well we went n got an xbox1 for various reasons but one reason is I really wanted to play this game lol.

Did it disappoint?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it looks absolutely awesome, I liked the story and the gameplay was fun.  What's not to like about kicking Barbarian Butt???

Nah seriously I don't play many games through twice but this had enough play enjoyment for me that I would.  If they made an RPG set in this time era, I'd be happier then a pig in brown stuff ;)

Reports have it though that the next but one Assassins Creed will be set in ancient rome! Happy Days!!!

Technical / Yesterdays GD Outage
« on: March 04, 2014, 07:23:12 AM »
As you may know, we suffered a power outage today, we understand that this is unacceptable, however, it was out of our control, we apologise for the disruption that this has caused. Some fallout from this has included damaging a small number of HDDs and a switch, however, we are satisfied that damage has been kept to a minimum. Please submit a support ticket if you have any issues at all that may have been missed or overlooked.

For full details, please read the RFO report below, this was sent by the Datacentre, all times are GMT.

"At 12:45hrs today we experienced an unplanned loss of power as a result of a fault on Western Power’s network. This fault is continuing to affect us and 67 other customers and is due to be resolved by 21:00hrs tonight.

Upon loss of utility power, both A and B power rooms operated as expected on battery. Our parallel generators started and synchronised as expected, took load and after 15 minutes the synchronisation between machines was unexpectedly lost. As a result, our primary UPS’s in power room one fully discharged their cells and the primary IT load was lost at approximately 13:27hrs. Our core equipment remained online until 13:48hrs. B fed load was was lost at the same time.

Power was restored to customers fed from both power rooms at 14:29hrs. Our engineers have split the link between the two machines and we are operating on N diesel generation at this time. Once battery banks are fully charged and we have the all clear from Western Power, we shall effect an orderly transfer back to mains.

We are investigating the loss of synchronisation problem with a third party vendor and will be working on each of the two machines separately, with one machine always available as standby for the facility. Once we have identified the cause of this issue we will update everyone with our plan moving forward. At this stage we intend to split the machines and use them as N+N rather than 2N, feeding separate legs of the A/B power system. This will remove the machine control panels as a common point of failure and pending the report from our third party vendor, we’ll be issuing another RFO together with our proposed action to rectify this.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for this interruption."

Appeal a ban / Disease Cursing
« on: November 19, 2013, 07:24:31 PM »
If you're here to appeal a ban for disease cursing please consider this first.

Why would you ever think its appropriate to throw words around you have no understanding of?  Have you ever seen someone die of cancer?  Is it really acceptable to use such a serious word to describe something so frivolous or as a weapon against someone?

If your answer is along the lines of it's an adult game then get real, go down the pub and start saying "god my beer is cancer", or if someone bothers you slightly, tell them that you "hope they get cancer".  See how people react to you.  Most likely you'll end up with two black eyes.

If your excuse is, but swearing is in the game all the time, yes swearing is and so is shooting people in the head, doesn't mean it's acceptable to abuse other people or just pop down your high street and pop a few bullets in someones head.    Regardless saying the word cancer in a derogatory manner isn't considered swearing but has no place on our servers.  If your morals have slipped so low that you think it is acceptable then I don't think I even want to know you.

It's NEVER acceptable, it's against ER policy and if caught by admin will result in a permanent ban from that server unless you have a damn good reason for using it.

As someone said to me a badmin response is to tell you to play on another server.... my response, no it's the response of an admin who would rather have a server full of people who know right from wrong, not a bunch of kiddy trolls.

Bens Emporium / Video editing
« on: October 17, 2013, 04:14:17 PM »
Now don't panic I'm not about to go all video editing (gaming) on you but I am dabbling with signatures etc with video in them.  Thing is if I find a video or something I'd like to be able to edit it and maybe put a few scenes together etc.  Can anyone (not necessarily Ben) recommend me some free software?

Other Games / What other game are you playing?
« on: October 14, 2013, 01:10:46 PM »
Just like that what are you listening to/watching thread really but for games.  Obviously we can all take BF3/BF4 as a given but what about the other games?;)

I must admit last night I shut off skype, steam contacts and had no browsers open and loaded up MAFIA 2 finally!!!  Have to say I was engrossed and had to drag my butt to bed at a reasonable time to get up this morning.  Been ages since I've done that :D
